Beginning March 1st, 2022 Big Sur Fire implemented a new burn permit process. Big Sur Fire will no longer be issuing burn permits. All burn permits will be issued using the State of California-Department of Forestry (CalFire) burn permit system.

Visit burnpermit.fire.ca.gov to obtain your permit. Be sure to check the expiration date on your Cal Fire burn permit to ensure you are current.
You must apply for a new burn permit regardless if you previously obtained one from Big Sur Fire. Each day you wish to burn, you MUST verify it is a permissive burn day by calling 1-800-225-2876 and notify Big Sur Fire of your burn using our online form.
